San Francisco dream-surf outfit Farallons launched a Kickstarter campaign for their debut LP, and if you’ve seen the group lately, you know that their debut EP was only the first taste of what the band can do. Released last summer, the Outer Sun Sets EP showcases the band’s intrinsic ability to capture those moments where lightness and darkness meet. In the months since the record dropped, each Farallons’s show has been an exhibition of how the band has pushed their sonic aesthetic–sparse moments woven into warm, layered compositions–particularly through the increase in vocalist Aubrey Trinnaman’s contributions. Her harmonies with mastermind and frontman Andrew Brennan always project a certain ease, and during their January residency at Amnesia, the two vocalists channeled their slow-burning, simmering energy into bursts of electric emotion.
See for yourself at Farallons’ next show on May 14 at Rickshaw Stop, and head to their Kickstarter page for a deeper glimpse into the band’s narrative. Brennan and friends are just about half-way to their goal, so check out their campaign video below and decide for yourself if you want to be one of the hundred-plus backers who help push their story forward.
