DIIV

DIIV are set to take the stage at Great American Music Hall this Thursday, May 1. Having remained quiet since releasing the lo-fi, reverb-soaked Oshin in 2011, the band are rumored to be releasing new material sometime this year.

[We’ll be] crawling out of our basements to play a whole bunch of new material but probably still wearing the same clothes as last tour. We’ve been working on filming visuals for projections and designing other stuff to do with visual element the live show which should be cool,” from a post on DIIV’s Facebook and Tumblr pages.

Since the release of Oshin, singer and band ringleader Zachary Cole Smith has popped up in the headlines – mainly due to his dating an up-and-coming pop singer and for being arrested for drug-related charges. While Smith and his beau, Sky Ferreira, may be the indie “it” couple for the Yelp generation, here’s to hoping his tabloid fame won’t be eclipsing DIIV anytime soon.

DIIV most recently helped close out the famed 285 Kent in Brooklyn earlier this year. Check out the video below where the band launched into a “(Druun Pt. II)/Like a Rolling Stone” medley.
