LeVICE show poster

Friday night, Le Vice headlines a night of live hip-hop at the Elbo Room, with support from RGLND & DUCKWRTH and sayknowledge – all artists that have released new material in the past 6 months. The lineup showcases a wide range of Bay Area hip-hop, which in my humble opinion features some of the most innovative and forward-thinking local artists in the Bay these days. Le Vice, whose music definitely includes the raps, but probably shouldn’t be confined released their LP The Payoff late last year, and their video for “Jamir’s Bed Part I” premiered here on the Bay Bridged:

South Central LA native and current San Franciscan DUCKWRTH released his Tax Free v.1 mixtape in February, and it quite honestly sounds like a creation of someone heavily influenced by LA gangsta rap of the 90’s and the dreamy “cloud rap” that has been prevalent in the Bay of late. Listen to Tax Free below, then spend some time exploring DUCKWRTH’s deep catalog on Bandcamp.

sayknowledge has been one of my favorite local MC’s since I saw his “Art Goons” video. Last week he dropped “Toll Booth”, and confirms the San Francisco native is only going to get better. He also was part of a cypher with fellow San Franciscans A-1 and Richie Cunning that is definitely worth your time. Catch them both below.
