Hailing from Oakland, The Younger Lovers is the solo act of Brontez Purnell. A fast-paced snotty garage rock project, the music is deeply rooted in elements that are equal parts soul and punk.
The Younger Lovers will descend on San Francisco for a special performance at the Hemlock Tavern. They’ll be joined by a slew of Bay Area bands — San Francisco’s Quaaludes, East Bay’s Bad Daddies, and Oakland’s Yi — to create a cosmic super force of local music.
Yi’s Crying LP, slated for release on May 22nd, is fast, abrasive punk music that borders ugly pop. Take the track “Going Dumb,” the first sample released from the forthcoming album. A plethora of noise and fuzzed out vocals, the track has the makings of your new favorite song.
