Although it’s been over a year since we’ve heard from SF psych rockers SUNBEAM RD., the trio is returning with a brand new 12-inch EP called Time Perception. Naturally, we have an exclusive stream of the first single from that release. Check out the official premiere of “Frog Drawing” below.

If you like what you hear, you can pre-order the 20-minute vinyl release from Bandcamp. The official release date for Time Perception is May 1, 2014. Read on for a chance to win a free copy of the 12-inch vinyl EP along with a test pressing. The short album features Trevor Hacker on vocals, electric/acoustic guitar, charango, EMS Synthi A, and percussion Harrison Pollock on bass guitar, MIDI electric guitar, Roland Juno 106, and EMS Synthi A, and Clive Hacker on drums, percussion, and trumpet.

Time Perception was engineered by Carlos Arredondo at New, Improved Recording in Oakland, and mixed by Trevor Hacker at Faultline Studios in San Francisco. The cover artwork was designed by Hacker, and features custom typography by MacFadden & Thorpe. The upcoming self-released record expands upon SUNBEAM RD.’s accessible style of melodic, progressive pop rock with reflectively psychedelic lyrics. All four songs were written by the SUNBEAM RD. trio, with Cody Hennesy credited as a co-writer and guitar player on the track “Big Troubz”.

SUNBEAM RD. will be performing songs from Time Perception live at their official release party on Saturday, May 3 at Milk Bar. Li Xi, Perhapsy, and Foli will support the show, which will be presented by Davis IL.

To win a copy of the 12-inch vinyl and a test pressing of ‘Time Perception’, email with “SUNBEAM RD. Giveaway” in the subject line with your full name and favorite SUNBEAM RD. song in the body of the email. One lucky winner will be chosen at random, and notified by email.
