Personal and the Pizzas

Macaulay Culkin’s Pizza Underground is amusing at best and gimmicky at worst. Unsurprisingly, the pizza-themed tribute band that exploded on the internet plays a sold out show at Neck of the Woods on March 5. Tickets went fast, and why wouldn’t they? It’s a chance to see everyone’s favorite kid star sing morosely about pizza.

But here’s the thing, San Francisco doesn’t need Ri¢hie Ri¢h to come to town to perform pizza-themed-Velvet-Underground songs, because the Bay Area already has a band for that. And honestly, they’re a little pissed with Macaulay’s antics.

Personal & the Pizzas are a rambunctious bunch: three greasy (but lovable) lunatics from Jersey, they’ve gone ahead and further denounced Culkin’s Pizza Underground by planning a rivalry (free) show at the Hemlock Tavern on March 5. They’ve even released a saucy little number entitled “Death Threat” to go along with the announcement.

The boys were quoted on eMusic saying, “We’re playing at the cool venue and for frickin’ FREE! They’re playing at some dump for rich kids.”

So there you have it, San Francisco: The war is on and the battle night has been chosen. Who will be the last slice standing?
