Hether Fortune

If you’re still considering your options for Valentine’s Day nightlife, REPLICANT is bringing a darkly romantic lineup to The Night Light in Oakland this Friday with Ensemble Economique, (Sir) Hether Fortune, and Vestals. As we announced last month, experimental/industrial-oriented dance series REPLICANT is back for its third Bay Area party of 2014. In addition to the three main performers, Friday’s foggy ambiance will be rounded out with a Barn Owl DJ set and paintings by Paris Hynes.

California’s Brian Pyle is returning to the Bay Area as Ensemble Economique with a “devastating set of isolationist drone.” Below, you can preview “We Come Spinning Out Of Control” from last year’s Fever Logic LP on Not Not Fun. San Francisco’s Lisa McGee will perform an experimental shoegaze set as Vestals, incorporating unique electronic elements into deconstructed guitar pop sounds.

Hether Fortune of Wax Idols (and formerly of Blasted Canyons) will perform a special solo set as Sir Fortune. Fortune is “her own boyfriend” and will be performing intimate versions of material from her repertoire. I’m personally very curious to see exactly what Fortune has in mind for this performance.

Jon Porras and Evan Caminiti return to the Bay Area as Barn Owl with an all vinyl DJ set exploring the outer limits of minimal and experimental music. San Francisco-based artist Paris Hynes will cut through the fog with a striking visual element, displaying large-scale original artwork around The Night Light on Friday. REPLICANT was founded by resident DJs Kerri LeBon and Sky Madden.
