Tycho has released the first single from new album Awake, due out March 18 on Ghostly International. “Montana” premiered on Pitchfork last week and makes it clear that Tycho is now most definitely, and confidently, a band. The vision is still Scott Hansen’s, who started Tycho as a solo project making expansive, wide-eyed post-rock-esque electronic soundscapes. That is still all present in “Montana”, but you also get sharp drumming and electric bass lines that bring more of the rock into the equation.

In addition to the new album, Tycho has also announced details of a North American tour for Spring 2014, including a stop right here in their hometown of San Francisco at The Fillmore on March 20. Full dates below.
