Offering a sound that makes nostalgia nostalgic – ’60s rock n’ roll mixed with Johnny Thunders power pop – it’s no wonder that the former Groovie is behind the project. “Sweet Anne,” a ballad off the album, takes piano instrumentation along with contrasting tough vocals from Wilson and combines them into a sweet, loving yet still rough-around-the-edges classic rock and roll song. “Shake That Feeling” features a duet with fellow Groovie Cyril Jordan, and it’s fun, rhythmic, and utterly catchy. The album is a blast-to-the-past that brings modern music and sound quality to an aging genre. It’s definitely something special.
If anything, this album shows that after nearly 40 years of playing, the Flamin’ Groovies members still have the talent and will to keep bringing some classics to your tape player. Or CD player. Your choice. But you can also purchase an MP3 version of the album, too.
