Given that they count the likes of Ceremony and Trash Talk as fans, it’s no wonder local punk outfit Creative Adult has already generated a good bit of buzz even though the band hasn’t put out its debut album yet. It’s coming, though – Psychic Mess, produced by Godspeed You! Black Emperor’s Efrim Menuck, is out February 25 on Run For Cover Records.

Creative Adult ain’t your dad’s punk rock band—mainly because, back in your dad’s day, punk rock bands didn’t have publicists, pretty much by definition. Otherwise, they are kinda like your dad’s punk rock band, because they’re not really trying to update the sound too much or anything. There’s no emo interludes, no electronic embellishments, no cowpunk self-indulgence. Just raw rock, albeit with songwriting flourishes that show these guys care as much about crafting their tunes as they do about bashing them out.

The band has already released a couple songs from Psychic Mess. The second single from the album, “Public Transit”, premiered on Spin just the other day:

And here’s the video for Psychic Mess cut “Deep End”. Thought y’all might wanna take a gander at that too:

Creative Adult plays Thee Parkside at the end of the month. In fact, the band is touring through March in support of Psychic Mess. Check out the full dates after the jump.
