Days after announcing the March 11 release of Warm Soda‘s sophomore LP, Young Reckless Hearts, Matthew Melton prescribed us with a dose of sugary pop in the form of “When Your Eyes Meet Mine,” via Spin. Like the album’s title track, which can be heard below, the song takes infectious guitar riffs and Matt’s whispered vocals and packages them into a familiar, concise power pop ballad.
While we’ve recently gotten used to his crooning ways, Matt also fronts a punk outfit called Big Tits, and his two bands are going head to head this Thursday for January’s installment of Mods vs. Rockers. Featuring front-man Joey Genovese, Big Tits get tough while Warm Soda prefers to revel in universal feelings of infatuation, so if you want to see a clash of gritty and glam tunes with an overarching pop sensibility driving the whole show, head to Amnesia on January 23.
