Festival announcements are firing left and right – from Governors Ball and Rain Fest, to Coachella last week. As bands route their paths across North America in order to hit all of their festival stops, new opportunities arise like the fourth annual Treefort Music Festival in Boise, ID.
A festival with a SxSW feel that takes over the bars, venues and “forts” of downtown Boise, Treefort is boasting an alluring lineup for this year, including Run the Jewels, The Joy Formidable, and of course hometown heroes Built to Spill. Just announced this morning are additions Blockhead, Dan Deacon, Poliça, RJD2, and Syracuse buzz band Perfect Pussy, and 60 some-odd more bands.
Last year, the festival hosted over 15 bands from the Bay Area alone. So far this year’s Bay Area inclusions are Warm Soda, Creative Adult, Meat Market, Future Twin, and Twin Steps.
Four-day festival passes are available at a discounted price until March 1, when the price goes up. Go here for more information on tickets.
Last year’s festival provided an unforgettable memory, quite possibly my favorite festival moment of 2013: a frigid outdoor performance from The Walkmen (and their first in Boise), and the last I’ll likely ever see of them due to the ‘indefinite hiatus.’ Check out a clip of “Heaven” from their set, as well as photographic highlights from last year’s festival — including shots of Grass Widow, Youth Lagoon and Baths — after the jump.
