Hot Toddies

For 2013, this is the last chance to party with The Octopus Literary Salon! On Saturday, December 21, The Octopus teams up with Chabot Space & Science Center for the ultimate winter solstice celebration.

The Bay Area has limited options for good family fun, but this party will please all ages. Things get started at 4pm. Kids great and small can enjoy the museum and fun projects (make a lantern or constellation tube!), and there will be rocking Christmas carols courtesy of The Secret Santas and killer, all-girl rock with Thee Hot Toddies!!! Big kids (over 21) can enjoy beer and wine. Food, cocoa, and cider will be available.

The Octopus promises the return of the infamous Liminal Library, as well as THREE short interactive plays with audience participation and costumes! In addition, The Octopus has arranged a live video feed of solstice sunrise in the ancient burial chamber at Newgrange, County Meath, Ireland.

As the shortest day of the year comes to a close, peer at the solstice sky through Chabot’s awesome telescopes. There will be a very special session of “Star Stories” to boot. The whole day costs a mere $12, and the festivities will finish up around 10pm. Dress warmly!
