Alan Forbes – a well-known rock music poster artist and citizen of San Francisco – was attacked in the Lower Haight back in October, leaving him with two skull fractures and damage to his right eye. With no insurance to cover the hefty medical expenses, Forbes has seen his friends in the music and arts communities near and far join together to help him through his ordeal.
Benefit shows will be held at the Make-Out Room on December 7 and Bottom of the Hill on January 4, with the likes of Jello Biafra, Hot Lunch, Black Cobra, and Lecherous Gaze performing. Each show will feature a silent auction, and contributors listed so far include Queens of the Stone Age, Graveyard, Monolith Press, Jared Connor, and Marq Spusta.
Spusta is also creating a benefit poster, while Monolith donated printing for an art print, which can be pre-ordered here. Connor (of Mexican Chocolate Design) created a shirt design with a Forbes piece, and Bad Skulls has donated printing. Pre-order the shirt here.
Those interested in donating to the silent auction should email info@secretserpents.com, and more information on the shows and silent auctions can be found on Secret Serpents’ website. Get out there to support a great local artist.
