painted palms

San Francisco’s Painted Palms announced the release of their first full-length album Forever, out January 14 via Polyvinyl. The duo previously released two EPs: the Carousel 7-inch, which dropped in March of this year, and 2011’s Canopy.

Reese Donohue and Christopher Prudhomme pieced together Forever gradually from states apart — Donohue lives in San Francisco, and Prudhomme stayed in their native Louisiana — but the album shows no signs of a distanced collaboration. The duo is clearly on the same wavelength, and the album’s influences range from modern electric to ’60s psych-pop, playing on themes of being lost between the real world and one’s own mind.
