Wymond Miles of The Fresh & Onlys proved himself a proficient and poignant songwriter on his 2012 debut solo album Under the Pale Moon. Written and recorded over the span of two months, the critically lauded record is the result of a draining period in the artist’s life, with most of the songs giving into his raw emotion and pure exhaustion to stunning effects.
Days after his band announced a new EP, Soothsayer, he dropped the news that his sophomore LP Cut Yourself Free, will be released with Sacred Bones on October 17. Self-recorded on tape, the record will have lost none of Miles’ distinctive, textured guitar edge, though from the sounds of the first single “Passion Plays”, the album is a more seasoned and confident venture into the post punk realm, with analog synthesizers of the early 1980s bringing both dreamy and manic vibrations.
No word on a record release show, but he’ll be kicking off a North American tour in September, before pausing for a stint down the West Coast with The Fresh & Onlys and resuming his solo road trip back up north and then out east in November.
