Outside Lands 2013 poster

The 2013 Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival starts Friday, with three full days of bands taking over Golden Gate Park (and a bunch of cool night shows too). We’d offer up a suggested itinerary, but, honestly, after looking closely at the day-by-day schedules, there are at least two interesting choices happening at the same time for most of the festival. That’s a testament to the lineup’s depth, and a sign that, if you’re going to OSL, you should be in for a great weekend.

To prepare for the fest, catch up with our interviews with Phoenix, The National, MS MR, and the festival’s organizers. We’ll also have writers and photographers on site all weekend. Our Roman Gokhman will be live-tweeting from the festival starting on Friday morning — follow him at @RomiTheWriter for that live coverage.

Updated to add: On Saturday, be sure to head over to the SpinMedia Soundwave Tent (near the Lands End stage) between 3 and 5pm. The Bay Bridged’s Tim Draut will be DJing a set of local bands alongside Milo Greene and Atlas Genius as part of Hype Machine Handpicked.
