San Franpsycho is teaming up with the non-profit foundation Surf For Life to put on one helluva show for one helluva great cause on Friday night at the Independent. The show – a benefit to raise money for educational resources in Nicaragua – features three solid acts: Ben Kweller, Mahgeetah, and Bonnie & the BANG BANG. Both the Indy and Another Planet Entertainment are putting all ticket proceeds from the event toward the cause, and we have two pairs of tickets to giveaway to a couple lucky readers.
Surf For Life is a San Francisco-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that “sponsors educational and community driven development projects in coastal communities around the world.” Over the past four years, the organization has led multiple volunteer trips to Central America, renovating elementary school classrooms, building much needed additional classrooms, and building an entire high school in El Salvador.
Friday night’s benefit kicks off with an exclusive pre-party at the San Franpsycho store on Divisadero, with “small bites” from Little Chihuahua, ice cold Peronis, free event t-shirts for the first 100 people, raffles from local companies like Indo Sole and Big Dog Surf Camp, and acoustic sets from San Franpsycho employees. Listen to music from all three bands slated to perform later in the evening over at the Indy, below.
To win a pair of tickets to the Surf For Life benefit show at the Independent featuring Ben Kweller, send an email to email@example.com with “Surf For Life” in the subject line and your full name and email address in the body of the email. The contest closes on Friday, August 2 at 12pm. Two winners will be selected at random and notified via email.
