Wild Ones are the latest indie pop band to emerge from the Portland scene that produced Typhoon and Bay Area favorites Radiation City (speaking of Radiation City, got your tix to Phono del Sol yet???). While Wild Ones’ music shares some sonic similarities with their scene-mates—a flair for experimentation and overall smooth textures—they are definitely doing their own thing, incorporating enough hints of krautrock, electronic music, and synth pop to keep you on your toes.
Wild Ones’ new record Keep it Safe is coming out July 9 on Party Damage Records, but they’re swinging through town a couple days early to play with locals Li Xi in support Olympia, Washington’s You Are Plural this Sunday, July 7 at Bottom of the Hill, and I’ve got two tickets to giveaway to one lucky reader.
To enter to win a pair of tickets to Sunday night’s show, email me at mike.g@thebaybridged.com by 11:59pm PT on Saturday, July 6 . I’ll pick a winner at random and notify him or her by email.
Here’s the video for the lead track on Keep It Safe, “Golden Twin”:
