Ash Reiter is set to play their last scheduled show of the summer this evening at the Presidio Yacht Club, which is good for three reasons. The first reason is it gives us an excuse to share the winner for best overall video at the Music Video Race held earlier this month – Ash Reiter’s video for “Treasure Island”. Directed by Andrew Callaway, the video also won “best use of song” and “best concept”:
The second reason I’m glad Ash Reiter is playing this show is it gives you a chance to see the shift in the band’s style. I saw them perform earlier this month, and frontwoman and the band’s namesake is doing a lot more experimentation with guitar pedals at her shows, and she told me this will be something folks can expect more of both in person and on future Ash Reiter recordings. She sent me a video of “Little Sister”, which is two live takes of the track set to a live recording at the Satellite in LA. I especially enjoy the guitar interludes in the second half of the song:
The final reason I’m excited for this show is that it’s at the Presidio Yacht Club in Sausalito. It’s actually a real-life clubhouse for the Travis Air Force Yacht Club, and the wood-paneled walls, nautical flags hanging from the ceiling, and a smattering of regulars make sure you feel like it. On top of all that, it boasts outstanding views of the Golden Gate Bridge. The event tonight features a handful of artists who also performed at the Ash Reiter-organized Hickey Fest. Ash tells me Hickey Fest was a great success and should be back again next summer (if not sooner). Details for tonight’s show are below.
