Voltaire Records is releasing a new modern funk, boogie, and soul compilation called Private Function as both a four-song 12-inch vinyl (available now) and a digital version (out July 9). According to the label, the aim of the comp is to celebrate the “new breed of talented producers re-inventing and amplifying this relished sound.”
We’ve got a vinyl copy of the compilation to give away to one lucky winner. For your chance to win, email mike.g@thebaybridged.com with “Voltaire Records” in the subject line. The contest closes on Monday, July 1 at 12pm, and a winner will be randomly and notified by email.
There are a number of up-and-coming bands on the comp from here in the Bay Area as well as LA and Miami. XL Middleton & Eddy Funkster, K-Maxx, Night School and Loose Shus all provided original tracks. Below, listen to either the original four-song comp or an expanded, downloadable 17-track version (dubbed Public Function). Dig in and get funky!
