The second Friday of June is nearly here, and you know what that means – time to dust off your dancing shoes for another night of Push The Feeling at Underground SF with our friends YR SKULL and epicsauce DJs. This week’s edition of PTF will feature a special live performance from East Bay-certified music nerd Glenn Jackson, who will perform a solo electronic set under his own name. Edit Murphy will headline with a rare DJ set.
Oakland’s Glenn Jackson is one half of James & Evander and frequently writes pieces on electronic music for XLR8R among other blogs. His well-received solo debut, the Morning Swim EP, was released earlier this year on Ceremony Recordings. The three-track EP (which you can stream below) made the rounds on high-profile music sites such as Spin and Fader, revealing a more house-oriented approach to his “bummer pop” synth-production prowess. He made his first live solo debut at the Sacramento Electronic Music Festival this year, and this Friday will be Glenn’s first live solo performance in San Francisco.
Edit Murphy prefers to keep himself anonymous, but he is not a local. Officially he is from “In the Groove, United States.” He does, however, have music released on Om and Smoke-N-Mirrors, both local labels. This soulful disco-house dude hit the scene in 2011 with his Motown Edits series, followed by an influx of original music, collaborations, and edits (hence the name). Stream “Mercy” below via SoundCloud.
