Blackbird Blackbird – "Summer’s Almost Here"

Back with his first new material since last year’s excellent EP Boracay Planet, SF’s Mikey Maramag (aka Blackbird Blackbird) just released yet another irresistibly lavish track, the new single “Summer’s Almost Here”. According to Maramag, “This track is about dancing under moonlight with friends and loved ones, embracing the seasons, and transitioning into a period of irreversible change.” The cover art (above) reflects these themes, an ethereal picture of lush green flora overlaid with images of what appear to be clusters of stars, and “Summer’s Almost Here” transcends Maramag’s description of Blackbird Blackbird as a just another synthpop band, weaving an intoxicating web of beats against a chill, atmospheric backdrop and roping in even the crustiest of straight up rock devotees.
