On Thursday, May 30, The Lab in San Francisco will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the International Noise Conference. The event will tour the U.S. through June, led by Rat Bastard and his headlining band Laundry Room Squelchers. Rat recruited a curator from each stop on the tour to organize the noise acts for the night. The San Francisco show is curated by The Lab’s Executive Director, Sarah Lockhart.
Each installment of the International Noise Conference must follow a set of rules: the acts chosen to play must perform for 15 minutes or less with no laptops or droning allowed. The definition of “noise” will run the gamut from “harsh feedback-driven assualts, hardcore free jazz, confrontational performance art” to “sometimes pretty electronic music.”
In addition to Laundry Room Squelchers, Thursday’s event at The Lab will feature Zeek Sheck, Wiggwaum, Wobbly, Moe! Staiano, Commode Minstrels in Bullface, Murder Murder, Headboggle, Pigs in the Ground, Weather And (Nicole of Head/Head, Julia of Waxy Tombs, and Madalyn Merkey), Tinker/Wang, A White Hunter, and Ettrick.
