Trivial Shields is the new project for Christian Carpenter, who was the brain and hair behind the late Chrystian Rawk, a project Carpenter says “didn’t quite translate out of my friend circle.” Carpenter is now in Istanbul where he’s teaching English, and it sounds like there’s a bit of Middle Eastern influence toward the end of Trivial Shields’ debut track “Camelot”. Monday, Carpenter released another song, “Enough”, featuring contributions from Idea the Artist and members of DRMS, Bells Atlas, and Waterstrider. He will release a Trivial Shields EP soon and will be returning to the Bay in August with local shows to hopefully follow. Listen to “Camelot” and “Enough” below.
