Now, you’re probably wondering why we care about a festival hitting downtown Boise. In its second year, Treefort Music Fest has managed to maintain exciting headliners — Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, The Walkmen, Dan Deacon and Built to Spill — succeeding last year’s Of Montreal, Why? and Built to Spill (the hometown heroes). What this festival does so well is blend out-of-town crowd-pleasers with a great sampling of music from its surrounding Northwest region, and pretty much everything good from the Idaho locale.
Here’s the kicker. FIFTEEN bands from the San Francisco Bay Area are playing this year: K. Flay, Camper Van Beethoven, Tartufi, Ugly Winner, Minot, The Mallard, Wax Idols, Ash Reiter, Wymond Miles, Gentleman Surfer, Burnt Ones, Grass Widow, The Brothers Comatose, Social Studies, and Couches. This in itself is pretty exciting.
We attended the festival last year, and will be covering the festival again starting tonight! Follow our Twitter, Instagram and the blog next week for Treefort Music Fest highlights.
