Bay Area duo Chasms recently announced a handful of California tour dates, along with a new video for “Darker Outside”. Comprised of primary songwriter Jess Labrador and collaborator Sky Madden, Chasms blurs dark shoegaze with elements of industrial, goth, and doom.

The video for the dreamy and dreary single “Darker Outside” is directed by visual artist Diane Le Lay, who lives and works in San Francisco. An expert at working with 16mm footage, Le Lay conjures up a “collage of light-leaked, emulsified mystery and beauty.” The shots of ancient Greek ruins in Le Lay’s cut of “Darker Outside” were originally shot by Le Lay’s grandmother in the 1950s. “Darker Outside” originally appeared on Chasms’ debut EP, When It Comes, released last year on Dream Recordings. Chasms are currently finishing their next album to be released later this year.

Band member Sky Madden also co-founded a new monthly audio-visual series at The Lab called Remote View. Its third installment will take place Friday, April 5, with local artists Barn Owl, Max & Mara, and Vereker.
