Majical Cloudz signs to Matador Records, set to play the Independent 3/11/13

Signing to Matador Records, putting out a new video on Yours Truly, and already on a North American tour, it’s an exciting time to be in Montreal’s Majical Cloudz. After releasing the acclaimed Turns Turns Turns EP last year, chief songwriter Devon Welsh, along with producer Matthew Otto, are the newest act to sign with Matador and hope to put out their first release on the label later this year.

Majical Cloudz create a space-like, synth-driven minimal musical landscape while still evoking emotionally charged lyrics. Welsh and Otto strike a balance in their songs that is, at it’s heart, a complex equilibrium. “Turns Turns Turns” is a song that exists with a sparse heartbeat, seemingly minimal in its output but deeply intricate in its blended balance. In this Yours Truly video, a shadow-cast Welsh sings with passion alongside subtle, stark white stage decorations.
