Geographer at the Gap - 3/7/13

Geographer is a locally grown band that we’re always pleased to see on show bills and festival lineups around the Bay Area and beyond  – but who ever imagined that we’d be seeing the band perform at the Gap? Yes, that big clothing store in the heart of downtown on Market and Powell. Filter magazine and Gap have teamed up to present a show deemed as a sort of SXSW pre-show – “an exclusive live performance celebrating SXSW”. The two are combining fashion and music by bringing in local style blogger Erin Hagstrom (of Cali Vintage) to style Gap looks for attendees of the store-gone-venue experience.

While Geographer is in fact not playing SXSW this year (they played in both 2011 and 2012) this is a wonderful opportunity to catch the soulful synth rock band live, for free, in a central location on Thursday evening, especially if you missed their January 31st performance at the Fillmore.

Be sure to RSVP for the show if you plan on attending, and definitely arrive early because once Gap hits capacity, that RSVP will become V-O-I-D. Luckily, Filter Magazine’s use of the RSVP does guarantee that the event is for fans only, so your spot for the show won’t be taken by a random tourist who happens to be wandering through the store between 6pm and 8pm.
