Sonny and the Sunsets at The Bay Brewed

Date: Saturday, March 2nd and Sunday, March 3rd

Number of Noise Pop Shows: 9 shows, 32 bands

Already Sold-Out: Most of them, including Thao & The Get Down Stay Down at the Great American Music Hall, Toro y Moi at The Independent, DIIV at the Brick & Mortar Music Hall, and Jukebox the Ghost at the Rickshaw Stop.

Check These Shows Out: Sonny & The Sunsets crushed at The Bay Brewed, and any opportunity to see our local country-rock sweethearts is worth taking. Fresh off the release of the third and final volume in the 100 Records series, the band’s at Bottom of the Hill on Saturday, with Tim Cohen’s Magic Trick, Cool Ghouls and Dune Rats.

The high-energy, warped electronica of Yacht comes to Slim’s on Saturday night, but it’s the diverse set of locals supporting them that make this show even more compelling. From Tussle’s instrumental explorations to Shock’s glossy dance-pop, it’s a full lineup worth sinking your teeth into.

I’m not exactly sure what “The Coup’s Shadowbox” is, though it’s billed as both “a concert/art show/experience piece” and “a collaboration between The Coup and street artist Jon-Paul Bail.” In any event, the finished product is sure to be a unique night for fans of this inventive Oakland hip-hop band.

Not A Concert: Culture Club! Presented by The Bay Bridged, Culture Club takes over the Swedish American Hall on Saturday afternoon for live scoring performances by Califone and Yacht, and panel discussions about Kickstarter, vinyl, and underground art in Iran, among others. Check out more details and the full of schedule of events.
