Autre Ne Veut, the solo new-R&B project of Brooklyn’s Arthur Ashin, will be performing at The Independent in San Francisco on March 11 with Majical Cloudz and Bago as part of a tour in support of his second full-length album, Anxiety, out February 26 via Software/Mexican Summer. The album is the follow up to his 2010 self-titled debut.

On Anxiety, Autre Ne Veut drops the lo-fi aesthetic and mysterious character persona of his first album, arriving with an emotionally charged, high definition pop sound. Watch the video for the album’s first single “Counting” below, featuring Mykki Blanco.

Ashin lived with Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never) in college, drawing inspiration from his “phenomenal, weird ambient music.” He was also trained as a classical vocalist in high school, with a passion for soul and R&B. Anxiety blends the artist’s new age aesthetic with soulful, sensual vocals fully present in the foreground of the record. Originally recognized for his affiliation with Grimes, Welsh has carved a name for himself with expressive, intimate live performances and powerful lyrics and vocals on his recent Turns Turns Turns EP.
