The new record from Thao & the Get Down Stay Down, We the Common, comes out on February 5th, 2013 via Ribbon Music, recorded at Tiny Telephone and produced by John Congleton (St. Vincent, Bill Callahan, the Walkmen, Explosions in the Sky). Since the initial announcement, two tracks have become available: “We the Common (for Valerie Bolden)” and “Holy Roller,” both streaming below.
The album also features a duet with Joanna Newsom on the track “Kindness Be Conceived.” The first 300 LP pre-orders will receive a special covers 7″, featuring Thao & The Get Down Stay Down covering Melanie’s “Brand New Key” and The Troggs “With a Girl Like You.”
There are two dates in the near future when you get a taste of the new album and experience the band’s excellent live show: Thao & the Get Down Stay Down plays on February 6th at Amoeba, and on March 2nd at Great American Music Hall during Noise Pop 2013.
