Indie rock pioneers Camper Van Beethoven are ramping up for a thirtieth anniversary celebration in 2013. On January 22nd, the band will release La Costa Perdida, its eighth studio album and first in nine years and, in anticipation of the new record, a 12-date tour with frontman David Lowery’s other band Cracker has been planned, including stops at The Independent in San Francisco and the Mystic Theatre in Petaluma.

The first single off La Costa Perdida is “Northern California Girls”, a track that has the energy you would expect out of an ode to the fairer sex’s NorCal contingent. It’s classic CVB, proving yet again why they remain one of the most influential acts in their genre three decades after the band originally formed in Redlands, California in 1983. Watch the “lyric video” for “Northern California Girls” below:

Additionally, demonstrating just how influential this band truly is, Divine Fits recently covered CVB’s “(I Was Born In A) Laundromat” (off 1989’s Key Lime Pie) live, and then included a studio version as a b-side to recent single “My Love Is Real”. Listen here (via SoundCloud):
