Canadian indie collective Rah Rah will be performing on Friday, November 30th at Thee Parkside in San Francisco with San Francesca, Travis Hayes, and Ashley Allred (of Odd Bird).
Rah Rah is an alt-pop sextet from Regina, Saskatchewan. The band’s third album, The Poet’s Dead, was just released in October, and was recorded with illustrious indie-rock producers Gus Van Go and Werner F. The record features ten songs that capture the band members at the peak of their abilities. Members of the Rah Rah collective rotate taking the lead both in songwriting, and on stage. Erin Passmore and Jeff Romanyk both play drums, keyboards, and guitar, while Kristina Hedlund plays violin, keyboards, and accordion. Rah Rah was named “Best New Canadian Band” and “Best New Alternative Band” by iTunes Canada in 2009. Watch the video for “Prairie Girl” below.
San Jose’s San Francesca have just released a new album called We Live In Public, out now on Side With Us Records. The three-piece indie rock band says they were trying “something frantic…what it sounds like to live in a world where you have 1000 things competing for your attention.”
San Francisco singer-songwriter Travis Hayes will perform his brand of direct and heartfelt storytelling. Watch his video for “Flaws and All” here, featuring An-Nhien Le.
While singer-songwriter Ashley Allred usually fronts the Petaluma-based indie-folk group Odd Bird, she will open Friday evening at Thee Parkside with a solo set of acoustic jams.
