Do you like your music tight and loud, with a frontman that sounds like he’s spitting and sweating all over the place, just on the edge of crazy? If you do, Oakland’s Big Long Now may be just the band for you.

Formed by three New Hampshire natives, Big Long Now has been playing together as a trio for a little over year, but bassist Jimmy Ryan and drummer Matty O’Reilly were childhood friends that had been in bands with each other for several years prior. “Jimmy and Matty’s long history playing together had rendered a fluid chemistry on bass and drums which opened a world of doors for my guitar

[and] vocals to take on a new shape,” says vocalist Sean Asmar. “Most of the songs started out as loops and series of parts I would put together and then as a band we developed them into what they are today.”

After a successful Kickstarter campaign, Big Long Now was able to go to SF’s Tiny Telephone to record their debut EP, which you can pick up on vinyl at their release party at the Hemlock on December 12th. Expect plenty of spit, sweat, and crazy at the show.
