Gotta hand it to Mono: After all these years, they’re still proving that you can rock the fuck out while sitting down.
Chances are everyone who went to the Japanese quartet’s show at Rickshaw Stop on October 5th already knew exactly what they were getting into. Mono is pretty much the very definition of post-rock; their tracks start all pensive and ambient, but all the while meander toward soaring, powerful, epic grandeur. And that emotional arc is exactly what the crowd got.
