Holy Other, one of the most talented dark electronica producers to come out of Europe in the past couple years, has just released his highly anticipated full-length LP debut Held, out now on UK’s acclaimed experimental imprint Tri Angle Records. Other notable entries from Tri Angle’s roster include Balam Acab, AlunaGeorge, and local spookhouse artists oOoOO and Water Borders.
Held progresses the creeping dreamworld soundscapes of Holy Other’s excellent 2011 debut EP With U. This is late, late night music that maintains an undeniably beautiful, albeit eerie aesthetic throughout, more reminiscent of Burial’s Untrue than any of the abrasive witch house of 2010. This album won’t wake the dead, but rather it will hypnotize the living with its ghostly silk sheet production and chopped-up female vocals.
The UK-via-Berlin producer will be making his US live debut this fall, touring the states with headliner Amon Tobin, including a stop at Berkeley’s Greek Theatre on Friday, October 5th, 2012. Buy tickets here. Held was streaming in its entirety on Tri Angle’s Soundcloud during the week leading up to the album’s release, but has since been taken down. However, you may still listen to the album’s two ear catching singles above. Wait until the lights go down.
