It was Wednesday night and the Bottom of the Hill was packed. Great music for a great cause. Enorchestra began with a pure love of Brian Eno and perhaps an infatuation with his second solo record, Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy). Doug Hilsinger was a bartender for many years at the tragically shuttered Eagle Tavern. He also played there with many bands including a Neil Young tribute band called Cinnamon Girls with the whole band in drag. Check out his work at the Saucefaucet website.

In 2003, he recorded his favorite Eno record playing all the instruments himself. His version of the album is great (even Eno thought so!) and it was a serious treat to hear the record in its entirety, complete with three guitars, bass, drums and vocals. We can only pray that he is working on Here Come the Warm Jets. The band did close out the show with the first track, “Needles in the Camel’s Eye.” Stay tuned…

What more can be said about Thee Oh Sees? They rule. They are unstoppable. They give every note its due intensity and power. See them at the Uptown on September 8th with Sic Alps, Break Arts and The Mallard. They are headed out on tour AGAIN, but return October 12th to the Great American Music Hall.

But wait there is more! It looks as though The Eagle Tavern WILL RE-OPEN! It may be a few months, but it is in the works! This is truly incredible news. Watch for it, support it, love it.
