Astronauts, etc. is the solo project of Anthony Ferraro, a UC Berkeley student who is also a member of Ash Reiter and The Lawlands. Ferraro had aspirations of being a classic pianist until arthritis forced him to find a new career path. In a great story of turning life’s lemons into lemonade, Ferraro began creating electronic music, and the beautiful single “Mystery Colors” is the initial result. Almost immediately after being released, “Mystery Colors” caught fire in the blogosphere, sending Astronauts, etc. to #1 on the Hype Machine “Most Blogged Artists” chart in less than a week.

The video for “Mystery Colors”, created by Bay Area video effects artist Ben Smith, takes you on a gorgeous VHS sci-fi journey through space and creates the perfect companion for Ferraro’s soft falsetto. Catch the video below and download the track for free from Astronauts, etc.’s SoundCloud page. The debut EP from Astronauts, etc., entitled Supermelodic Pulp, will be released September 8th, 2012 and include videos from Smith for all 6 tracks. The tracks will share a sci-fi theme, and Ferraro tells me the next video he and Smith release “will explore the idea of intimacy in space.” The duo seems to be a great match, and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
