Oakland doo-wop revivalists Shannon and the Clams have released a new 7″ on Oakland’s 1-2-3-4 Go! Records. The first single, “Ozma”, is “one of the sweetest odes to a dearly departed, snoring, rabbit munching mutt” (so says the press release). The other side is the band’s crowd-pleasing cover of the Muppet Babies theme song. The record will be available on color and standard vinyl.
You can listen to the YouTube preview for “Ozma” below. It’s a sweet, soothing tribute, full of all the throaty vocals and “ooh-wah-ooh”s you’d expect from the band.
Shannon and the Clams will also embark on a brief tour of the West coast through September, which, sadly, does not stop in the Bay.
