In the last few years, Nick Waterhouse has become the stuff of San Francisco legend; a one-man R&B revolution. If you haven’t encountered his work yet (though you might have: his “I Wanna Know” provides the soundtrack to a currently-airing Acura commercial), he keeps busy crafting down-to-the-gear authentic R&B tunes straight outta 1960. Now, he’s released a video for “Some Place”, off this year’s full-length, Time’s All Gone.
The video was produced in conjunction with San Francisco-based indie video collective Yours Truly. “Yours Truly started to hear about Nick Waterhouse about a year and a half ago, very early on in his career,” says Caleb from Yours Truly. “There’s a fire in his music that really draws you in.” This piece, shot at SF’s Different Fur Studios, follows an earlier Yours Truly feature on Waterhouse, which followed him around his favorite San Francisco haunts.
Check out the new video in full below. Waterhouse is in full starched-collar swing, howling over synchronized saxes and a frenetic piano. Waterhouse will tour with labelmates The Allah-Las beginning at the end of September, coming to Bimbo’s on October 20th.
