Taken By Trees is the solo project of Swedish musician Victoria Bergsman, former lead singer for notable band The Concretes. Since branching out on her own, Bergsman has released two albums (2007’s Open Field and 2009’s East of Eden), relocated to Los Angeles, and signed with Secretly Canadian. On October 2nd, Bergsman releases her third Taken By Trees album, Other Worlds, and first for the Bloomington, Indiana based record label. You can listen to the first single “Dreams” above, and watch an album teaser trailer below.

As evidenced by the video, Other Worlds‘ creation was heavily influenced by Bergaman’s recent time spent in Hawaii – a stark contrast to East of Eden‘s catalyst, which was a profound trip to Pakistan. “Dreams” too exemplifies a departure from overcast, melancholy tones to a more satisfied and optimistic imagery. What remains the same however is Bergsman’s beautiful, near-whispering voice; soft enough to soundtrack a collection of classic lullabies but engaging enough to keep you awake.

We’ll get to see a bit of it all on August 4th, when Taken By Trees performs at Noisette , which was recently relocated to Public Works. If you can’t make that show you’ll get another chance on November 5th at The Fillmore, when Bergsman returns as part of a nationwide tour opening for label-mate Jens Lekman.
