DRMS

San Francisco’s DRMS (formerly known as Dreams) are releasing their debut full-length album at a record release show on July 28th at the Rickshaw Stop, performing with support from The Shotgun Wedding Quintet and St. Tropez.

DRMS is the recently-formed eight-piece collaboration fronted by Emily Ritz and keyboardist Rob Shelton. Their sound has been described as “what would happen if Billie Holiday was selected to perform in an electro-pop infused band curated by David Lynch,” and their first full-length was recorded in just 31 days at Tiny Telephone Studios. While the physical version isn’t available until Saturday, the LP is currently available for download on Bandcamp, as is their previous With You EP. The album is an emotional experience, with vibrant instrumentation from all eight band members.

Supporting act The Shotgun Wedding Quintet are San Francisco locals who combine jazz and hip hop. The four-piece ensemble features members of Jazz Mafia. St. Tropez features Sanjay Vora, Aki Ehara, and Lalin St. Juste, also of the electronic R&B band The Seshen. This eclectic Oakland band “explores memories and how they make us feel, the simultaneous joy and melancholy we experience contemplating happy moments that are gone forever.”
