Local jam band AllofaSudden is stepping up to pay tribute to the recently departed Levon Helm — they will play a full set covering songs by The Band. The Band not only provided major musical influence for the Americana-folk-rock group; AllofaSudden describe them as “heroes,” and wish to honor “undeniable stamp these songs have left on American music.” They also mention that they plan on taking “this spirit into the studio” with them as they record their next album.

The show at The Connecticut Yankee will open with a set from Chico’s Alli Battaglia & The Musical Brewing Company — here’s a great clip from the ultimate live show music documentary, The Last Waltz (Martin Scorcese, The Band’s last performance, if you haven’t seen it, do it!) to get you in the mood.
