Ohio electronic duo Teengirl Fantasy have announced summer tour dates leading up to the release of their sophomore album Tracer, out August 21st on True Panther Sounds. Teengirl Fantasy’s brand of electronic music almost defies classification. Equal parts ambient and maximalist, house and techno, sampled and organic, the duo refuses to be pinned down. Unlike their 2010 debut 7AM, Tracer is entirely sample-free, with vocal features from artists such as Panda Bear, Laurel Halo, and Romanthony. In comparing Tracer to their previous album, the duo states that “The editing is more painstaking- there’s more crafting to the songs.”
San Francisco will the first stop on the duo’s West Coast tour after returning from Europe. Teengirl Fantasy will be performing at the DNA Lounge on August 10th with futuristic audio-visual multimedia duo Gatekeeper, featuring video production from Thunder Horse. Gatekeeper will release their debut full-length, Exo, on July 17th via Hippos In Tanks.
Teengirl Fantasy and Gatekeeper performed together last April for the Public Access event at Public Works. Judging by the futuristic electronic dance spectacle of that event, the upcoming show should not disappoint.
