Brooklyn’s K-Holes will descend upon the City this Tuesday, 6/26/12, as their North American tour in support of their second LP Dismania continues into the summer. The sludgy garage punk outfit is playing a gig at Brick and Mortar supported by two Bay Area bands, Dirty Ghosts and Blasted Canyons.
Dismania, released May 17th on Hardly Art, has brought K-Holes some much deserved critical acclaim, as the band’s sound progressed from their eponymous 2011 debut with a healthy dose of more distinct, footstomp-worthy guitar riffs, not to mention the brilliant addition of saxophonist Sara Villard. Stereogum recently premiered the track “Frozen Stiff”, which bears great resemblance to the sound of singer and guitarist Jack Hines’ former band the Black Lips:

Dirty Ghosts have been riding high since the release of their debut full-length Metal Moon back in February. A tour of North America in April and May wrapped at SF’s Cafe Du Nord, and the band hasn’t stopped trucking ahead, recently taping the video for their next single “Katana Rock”, recording live sessions for the likes of Daytrotter and Antiquiet, and playing all four days of Calgary’s Sled Island festival. The video for “Katana Rock” was directed by TV Carnage, whose Pinky Beckles also did the band’s video for “Ropes That Way” earlier this year:
Blasted Canyons – self-described purveyors of “drag race music for mutants” – toured earlier this spring following appearances at SXSW and also released their 2nd Place EP back in April, an album that included the frenetic and digitally fractured track “Holy Geometry”:
