Magic Trick @ Wood Shoppe SF

San Francisco stalwart Tim Cohen is headlining tonight’s (6/5/12) installment of the Wood Shoppe SF series at Brick and Mortar. Wood Shoppe, the free concert series aimed at exposing people to local and national emerging artists “without the pressure of a cover charge,” started in February and is held the first Tuesday of every month, so far featuring Wet Illustrated, Burnt Ones, Australia’s Grace Woodroofe, and New Zealand’s Midnight Youth.

Cohen — whose primary endeavor The Fresh & Onlys is headlining our 2012 Phono Del Sol Music and Food Festival on July 21st one week away from his second official release under the Magic Trick name, a LP entitled Ruler of the Night out 6/12/12 on Hardly Art. The band previously made available the album track “Torture”, an ethereal and haunting number:

And just this past week, SPIN premiered “Invisible at Midnight”, another song off Ruler of the Night and one that takes on a more straightforward folk sound.

Supporting Cohen will be Survival Guide (out of Petaluma) and San Francisco’s 8th Grader. Wood Shoppe features $3 Trumer Pils and $5 Sailor Jerry cocktails, so drink up, and this free concert series can keep thriving beyond 2012.
