Wherever there is rock n’ roll, San Francisco’s Al Lover is usually right behind it with a remix. Now, as a tribute to Beastie Boys founder MCA, who succumbed to cancer earlier this month, Lover has compiled remixes of two Beastie Boys tracks, “Car Thief” and “Stop That Train”, from the Beasties’ landmark 1989 release, Paul’s Boutique. Both tracks are available for free download on his Bandcamp page.
Lover says of the project: “(Yauch) inspired me in countless ways…this album has had such an impact on my life and my art and I wouldn’t be doing what I do today without it.”
