Last July, under new moniker Release The Sunbird, Zach Rogue of Rogue Wave released arguably one of the more under-the-radar albums of 2011 with Come Back To Us. The music’s immediate warmth and kind-hearted melodies showcased an excited musician and thoughtful project. Rogue apparently (and luckily) had more completed Sunbird material to share with us, and recently released the digital EP Imaginary Summer — a collection of five new tracks along with a cover of Talking Heads’ “Road To Nowhere” — which you can currently download on iTunes and Amazon.
The EP’s first track, “I Will Walk,” premiered on Rolling Stone, and you can check it out below.
To help celebrate, the band has been playing a handful of West Coast dates, and returns to SF this Thursday Friday for a show at the Brick & Mortar (9pm, $10-15, 18+) with support from Birds & Batteries and Washington, D.C.’s Pree. Grab your tix here and get lost in Rogue’s new sound.
