The musically eclectic Berkeley native Bart Davenport will drop his new 80s power pop-inspired 7-inch, Someone2Dance, on Valentine’s Day. His label, Antenna Farm Records, describes each side as “a blistering nail in the coffin of romance,” with a sound akin to “Dwight Twilley getting into a fistfight with The Cars.”
Produced by long-time collaborator Sam Flax, the record was co-released with San Francisco’s Smile! Records and follows his 2010 covers album, Searching For Bart Davenport. The vinyl is limited to a print run of 500 copies, and each copy comes with covers hand-screened by Neil Martinson and an MP3 download code.
Bart will be playing a record release party for this single on Friday, February 17th at the Cafe Du Nord, with Sam Flax, Extra Classic, and DJ Neil Martinson opening. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here. Until then, listen to the A-side, “Someone2Dance,” below.
